Happy Birthday, APP!

Happy birthday, APP!

The APP turned 4 on June 1, 2021!

As we get a year older, we'd like to share 4 fun facts about US!

  • The first large survey to use the panel was the National Sports and Society Survey (NSASS), which is a landmark survey of 4,000 U.S. adults that collects information on sports-related attitudes and the dimensions and contexts of sports involvement experiences. Sponsored by the Ohio State Sports and Society Initiative and the College of Arts and Sciences, NSASS has already provided data for three publications with close to two dozen in various stages of preparation.
  • In addition to various units around the university such as University Communications, we have partnered with PIs in 4 colleges to date (Arts and Sciences, Education and Human Ecology, Glenn, and Social Work) and consulted with faculty in several others, with research sponsored by a variety of funding agencies and foundations.
  • We have recently developed the Mini Surveys to be an affordable vehicle for junior researchers and graduate students to collect real-world data from the APP for seed grants, thesis or dissertation research, and more. Over the past year, 4 graduate students have utilized the APP to advance their research agendas, spanning topics from climate change to international relations to political leanings to civic engagement. If you would like to support these efforts, the Frank Mott Student Support Memorial Fund has been established with gifts from friends and family to honor Dr. Frank Mott’s distinguished career at CHRR in survey research, teaching, and mentorship to provide support for one or more students engaged in research at the center.
  • Lastly, we are approaching 40,000 APP members and YOU could help us get there by joining or referring a friend by filling out the APP registration form.

We'd like to send a big 4th birthday thank you to the researchers who use the panel for their studies and to our panel members (current and future) for your support!
